Allergy cases among children and infants seem to be on the rise, and more and more parents are wondering how to fight it.
Doctors say there are many factors playing into the increase, including environmental issues, different food exposure, and pollution.
On the food-intake side, children are now exposed to a lot of processed foods, which means additives and preservatives. Doctors say identifying important food triggers for your infant is an important part of prevention.
Soy, wheat, dairy, in particularly the milk protein, corn, peanuts, seafood and shellfish, which commonly in the first two to three years of life predisposed children to food allergy related problems," said Gavin Setzen, an Ear, Nose, and Throat Specialist.
Doctors say you add to that mix environmental allergies, like house dust, dust mites, or mold, and cumulatively it makes more kids predisposed to having allergies.
